  • In certain job postings, we specifically seek male caregivers (mannies). This requirement isn't arbitrary, but based on the unique needs of some families and children we serve.

    Potential Benefits of Male Caregivers

For some families, a male caregiver can provide:

    1. A unique perspective in the caregiving role

    2. Positive male role modeling

    3. Diverse experiences that complement various family structures

  • In cases where we specify male caregivers, this requirement can be considered a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ). This means that the characteristic (being male) is reasonably necessary to the normal operation of the particular family situation and the specific needs of the child.

  • Our focus on male caregivers in specific cases is not based on stereotypes about caregiving abilities. We firmly believe that excellent childcare providers come from all genders. The decision to seek a male caregiver is rooted in providing children with specific types of role models and life experiences that some families believe will benefit their child's development.

  • We're committed to matching families with caregivers who best meet their specific needs. When a family seeks a male caregiver, we work to understand their unique situation and facilitate connections that create the most supportive and beneficial environment for the child's growth and development.

We encourage open discussions about how gender-specific requirements align with a family's needs and a child's developmental goals. Our aim is always to support the best interests of the children and families we serve.
