Nanny/Teacher Position for Exceptional 15-Year-Old with Non-Speaking Autism
Join our dynamic, collaborative team as a full-time caregiver/teacher for our amazing 15-year-old son with non-speaking autism. This is a unique opportunity to work with a family of educators offering training in innovative techniques. Charge is a bright, non-speaking autistic teenager with OCD-like behaviors. He requires a firm but patient presence, someone who believes in his intelligence and can be fully present during interactions. The schedule is organized into two-hour "on" bursts for easier engagement. Teen responds well to young men but the main requirement is a go-getter attitude all welcome to apply. This role isn't isolated; you'll be part of a team dedicated to teen’s well-being, learning special education skills that can be transferable.
Position: Full-Time Nanny/Teacher (option to live-in)
Location: Brooklyn, NYC
Salary: $30-$35 per hour with ability to go higher for candidates with a related degree*.
Hours: 5 days/week, 1:30 PM - 8:30 PM or 1:30 PM - 9:30 PM (35-40 hours/week)
Benefits: Transportation costs covered, training in innovative techniques, PTO, Healthcare Stipend (HRA).
Responsibilities:
Teach one academic subject (aligned to your skill/interest) one-on-one with our son.
Bring him to/from related services (speech, OT, PT, etc.) while providing communication support.
Engage in recreational activities (games, walks, hikes, trampoline, board games).
Assist with basic meal preparation
Support the family during meal and family times.
Help improve core life skills.
*Related degree in Education, Special Education, or Social Work required for higher hourly pay. This is because wages would partially be covered by state.
