Job Summary

Seeking an experienced and outgoing Family Assistant to provide collaborative childcare for a newborn and three-year-old in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. This role combines childcare expertise with household management in a warm family environment. The ideal candidate will support the mother-newborn bonding process while maintaining household flow and providing direct childcare during afternoon hours.

Salary and Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $62,400-$72,800

  • Hourly Rate: $30-35/hour (based on experience)

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, full-time (40 hours weekly)

Primary Childcare Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive care for both a newborn and a three-year-old

  • Create and implement age-appropriate activities and outdoor excursions

  • Coordinate and supervise playdates

  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children

  • Maintain consistent schedules and routines for both children

  • Support school pickup for the older child

Household Management Duties

  • Maintain organization in common living areas

  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization

  • Manage playroom setup and organization

  • Handle children's and household laundry, including bedding and towels

  • Perform occasional ironing of work attire

  • Conduct light housekeeping (dishes, common area vacuuming, toy organization)

  • Note: Professional cleaning service handles deep cleaning bi-weekly

Additional Responsibilities

  • Run occasional errands and shopping trips

  • Manage house during family travel periods

  • Adapt schedule if family work situations change

  • Take initiative in identifying and addressing family needs

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience caring for multiple children, including newborns

  • Strong cooking abilities and family meal preparation skills

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities

  • Valid driver's license

  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications

  • Willingness to undergo comprehensive background checks
