Job Title: Part-Time (+) Nanny/Family Assistant
Location: Park Slope
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Part-time with occasional full-time hours (40+/week), including potential for extended hours, early mornings, late evenings, overnights, and travel to Vermont & Nantucket
Compensation: $35/hour, with potential for higher compensation for exceptional candidates
Position Overview: We are seeking a child-focused, skilled nanny/family assistant to care for a 7th-grade daughter, and assist with household tasks, particularly meal preparation and cooking. This role emphasizes nanny responsibilities while incorporating family assistant duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide attentive and engaging care, focusing on her emotional and developmental needs
Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the family.
Assist with homework and educational support as needed
Organize and participate in age-appropriate activities and outings
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment
Coordinate and manage daughter’s schedule, including after-school activities and appointments
Provide occasional overnight care and accompany the family on trips to Vermont and Nantucket
Additional Tasks:
Light housekeeping related to childcare areas
Grocery shopping and meal planning
Laundry and clothing organization for Mckenzie
Running errands as needed
Desired Qualities:
Passionate about childcare and genuinely enjoys working with pre-teens
Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of nutritious meal preparation
Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
Patient, empathetic, and able to provide emotional support
Energetic and creative in planning activities and educational experiences
Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and family needs
Strong communication skills and ability to work well with the family
Requirements:
Proven experience as a nanny or family assistant, particularly with middle school-aged children
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Strong references from previous childcare positions
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background check
