What to Expect During Your Nanny Agency Consultation
Starting Your Childcare Journey
Finding the right childcare solution for your family is one of the most important decisions you'll make. When you've decided to work with our professional nanny agency, the initial consultation serves as the foundation for a successful placement. This meeting is far more than a simple interview—it's a comprehensive discussion that helps us understand your family's unique needs, lifestyle, and expectations.
Gathering Information
Consultations can be exploratory or serve as the first step in getting signed up with our agency.
We strongly suggest making a consultation appointment even if it feels like it is too early to begin a search. Often parents call us before baby is born (while they still have free time). Other times, families are just stuck and don't know how or when to start or even if the agency route is for them. Call—we love talking to parents and family office teams.
If you are ready to hit the ground running, before your scheduled consultation, take time to discuss with all family decision-makers what you're looking for in a nanny. Consider your schedule requirements, budget for compensation and benefits, and specific childcare responsibilities. Think about any special requirements such as languages, educational background, or driving abilities. Most importantly, reflect on your family's values and parenting philosophy to ensure alignment with potential candidates.
Let's Interview Each Other!
Meeting Your Placement Specialist
Your consultation will be led by one of our experienced placement specialists who will guide your family through the entire hiring process. We'll explain our process and timeline, discuss our thorough screening procedures, share our matching methodology, and answer all your questions about working with our agency.
Discussing Your Family's Needs in Detail
Expect an in-depth conversation about your childcare requirements, including each child's age, personality, and developmental stage. We'll discuss daily routines, educational priorities, extracurricular activities, and any special needs or medical considerations.
We want to understand your household dynamics, including your home environment, family values, communication preferences, and management style. If other household staff or family members are involved in childcare, or if you have travel expectations or second homes, these details are important to share.
Together, we'll develop a profile of your ideal candidate, considering experience level, specialized skills, personality traits, education, schedule availability, and long-term employment goals.
Compensation and Legal Employment Guidance
We have our finger on the pulse of the industry and can guide you on making the most of your childcare budget. Especially when you enter the $70-120K range, we have expert guidance on how to structure hourly pay and when it is worthwhile to hire two nannies instead of one. We assist families in drafting highly competitive offers that attract top talent.
Next Steps in Your Search
Following your consultation, we will process your intake information and create a customized search plan. You'll review our contract and send back a signed copy, along with your engagement deposit of $175 (which will be applied toward your placement fee).
With your approval to proceed, we'll begin searching for qualified caregivers who can accommodate your specific needs. We'll identify potential candidates from our database and may start active recruitment for specialized requirements. Throughout this process, we conduct thorough reference checks on all potential candidates.
Your placement specialist will establish how and when we'll present candidates, what information will be shared, and how interviews will be scheduled. After you've selected a caregiver, we'll assist with the offer and background check process, and help finalize the employment contract between you and your chosen caregiver.
Your Partnership Begins Here
The consultation is your opportunity to determine if our agency understands your needs and can deliver the quality candidates you're seeking. The most successful placements begin with thorough, honest, and detailed consultations where both your family and our agency establish clear expectations.
Remember that finding the perfect nanny is a process that requires patience and partnership. The time invested in a comprehensive consultation will pay dividends in finding a caregiver who becomes an integral part of your family's well-being and daily life.
